Cavapoo puppies have arrived!

July 25, 2012

So last night, 3 days early, Isla's puppies arrived! The first one came at 1.45am and the last one arrived at 4.54am, so not much sleep here last night!!  She has 8 beautiful strong puppies and is being an amazing Mum already. More pics to follow after some much needed sleep :)

Almost there!!!

July 21, 2012
Well, there is just one week to go now and the whelping are is all ready right outside my bedroom door!  The heat lamp is up and  towels at the ready.  Isla has been sleeping upstairs with us for the last weekso I can keep an eye on her and is quite determined to sleep on my bed and not in her choice of beds put up there for her!!!

The pups are really lively and kicking all the time, but she is still keen to go for her woodland walks and her energy just amazes me.  She is super fit, so hopef...

2 Weeks to go........

July 14, 2012
Isla is doing really well and getting bigger by the day.  We are very excited here today as we all felt the puppies move for the first time!  She is getting extra food rations now, to build her and the babies up.  This weekend I will prepare the whelping area so we are all ready for the big day.

5 Weeks.........

July 1, 2012

This is Isla's happy place, snuggled up with my son on the sofa. She is without doubt "in pup" and was 5 weeks pregnant on Saturday.  So her pups are due on or around the 28th July. She is really perky now and eating like a horse. We are really looking forward to it..........

The boys have arrived!

June 23, 2012

Well, Ludo arrived on Thursday and Raffi arrived Friday.  They are two of the boys from Mabel's Christmas litter and are now 6 months old.  They have come for two weeks while their families are away. These boys have not seen each other since they left us at 8 weeks, but after an hour of meeting they are inseparable and playing constantly, it's so cute. My girls have accepted them really well and so our family has grown temporatily.

Isla is feeling a little off colour and will only eat home ...

16th June 2012

June 16, 2012
We have actually had a really good day at the fair today and the sun shone for almost all of the day. I am more than a few pounds light, my own fault for having far too many children!!!!

Isla and The shih Tzus (Mabel and Panda) enjoyed a trip over there among the hoards of people and noise! That is what I love about these two breeds, they are so outgoing and just thrive on meeting new people (especially children).

Isla seems paticularly cuddley now as it is three weeks since the mating, time is...

Looking good!

June 11, 2012

So today, Isla refused her breakfast!  and was sick during the morning, not eating breakfast until 2pm.  Now this dog lives for food, so rather out of character. Unless, of course, it is morning sickness!!  Things are looking good and now I'm pretty sure she is in pup .

The fair has begun to arrive on the park outside our house today, so it will be bedlum from now until the weekend!  It brings life to the town, but gets a bit tiresome after a few years since they close our road and we can't g...

7th June 2012

June 7, 2012
We are all watching Isla like a hawk to try to see a change in her behaviour that tells us she's in pup!  She has become a bit more clingy, but her appetite has increased, when it should decrease at the start of pregnancy! lol we will just have to wait and see.

I took Panda (one of our shih tzu) for a mating at the weekend. It did not go quite as well as planned, so more waiting and watching to see if we have been lucky!

Fingers crossed

May 27, 2012
Really hoping Isla is now in pup after a sucessful mating this weekend.  This will be a litter of Cavapoos and has taken a great deal of planning and thought.  Whilst I love the Cavalier breed, I have spent 5 years researching the health issues and health testing.  I have come to the conclusion, that however much health testing is done, not enough is currently known about the way some of these genetic disorders are passed on.  The idea that a Cavalier pup may develop one of these awful condit...

Waiting!

May 17, 2012
This is the first post in our new blog. We are currently planning our next litter and really looking forward to the patter of tiny paws again.  The house has been very quiet since February when our litter of little boys went to start their exciting new lives. Just waiting for one of the girls to come into season  and hopefully we will have  summer puppies!
